Saturday, May 30, 2026. Depart 7:30 a.m. from LLPL Brian Gibbon Alvars are a rare landscape, places where limestone flats are near the surface, creating conditions for a specialized flora and wonderful bird habitat. Carden Alvar (about an hour’s drive from Barrie) is a great place to view a rich diversity of birds, some of which are very difficult to find elsewhere. Alternate rendezvous only (no parking): west parking lot of Atherley Narrows Tim Hortons, 3 Creighton St S, Orillia, ON south of HWY 12/Atherley Road between Queen St. & Creighton St. S at 8:00 a.m. Vehicle and easy walking, bring lunch & drinks or enjoy local restaurant.

TRIPS

A number of BFNC members have volunteered their time and expertise to bring you a great outdoor trip program. As usual we have some old favourites and some really exciting new ones. Although birds are a focus there will be something for every interest. Please join them in exploring the natural history of Simcoe county. MEETINGS

All regular meetings are held at Northwest Barrie United Church, 464 Ferndale Drive North, Barrie and start at 7:00pm.. Meetings are held in the Westennial Hall at the back of the church. Park in the big lot off Horsfield Drive..
