Join us for a talk by Lauren Hughes on the captivating Sable Island National Park Reserve (a.k.a. “The Graveyard of the Atlantic”). Discover its distinctive geography and geomorphology, and trace the rich history of human interaction—from the Mi'kmaq and early European explorers to shipwrecks, centuries-old settlements, and the life-saving station. We'll also explore the island's extraordinary biodiversity, including wild horses, grey seals, diverse bird species, and unique plant life. Learn about ongoing research and conservation efforts by the Sable Island Institute and Parks Canada to protect this fragile and extraordinary ecosystem
